Our position. teesrition is an independent information service for mobile customers in the United Kingdom. We are not a mobile network. We have no affiliation with, endorsement from, appointment by or connection to Three, EE, O2, Vodafone, Sky Mobile, Tesco Mobile or any other provider, and no commercial arrangement with any of them. We do not sell, supply, arrange or broker SIM cards, contracts, handsets or services of any kind, and we take no commission from anybody. Everything here is general information; a provider's own current terms always take precedence.
01

What it actually is

Basics

An eSIM is your plan written into a chip already inside the handset rather than posted on plastic. The service is identical. What changes is speed — minutes instead of days — and the ability to run a second line alongside your main one.

Do this
  • Request one only inside the official app or website.
  • Confirm your exact handset model is supported before ordering.
02

Which networks handle it well

Support
NetworkWhere it stands
EEAmong the smoothest in-app processes available
Three, O2 and VodafoneIssued within minutes by app, website or shop
Sky MobileArrived later and still varies by handset — confirm your exact model
Smaller brandsWidely supported on recent plans, but not uniformly
Do this
  • Check brand by brand rather than assuming.
03

The fees that do not exist

Fraud

No United Kingdom network charges for issuing, transferring or reissuing an eSIM — not even when a phone has been lost or stolen, because the number belongs to your account rather than to the chip.

Criminals invented "transfer services", "activation fees" and "migration charges" precisely because the real process is unfamiliar to most people.

WarningThe request for payment is itself the proof of fraud. Refuse it, end the call, and forward any message to 7726 free of charge.
Do this
  • Refuse any charge attached to an eSIM.
  • Never request an eSIM by following a link somebody sent you.
  • Report losses to Action Fraud for the crime reference banks require.
04

The pairing that saves the most

Travel

Keep your UK number live for calls and texts, and add a cheap local or regional data profile at the destination with data routed through it. On any stay past a few days this comfortably beats daily roaming charges.

Do this
  • Buy the travel profile before departure.
  • On landing, check data is routing through the correct profile.
  • Delete or archive it when you return.
